relationship blahs POSTED AT 10:19 PM I often think that a relationship is like a plant, that which when watered properly, will florish and grow flowers... perhaps even fruits. On the other hand, if not cared for properly, will whither and die. When a plant is not properly watered and pruned, it can dry up and die. At the same time, when a plant has too much water (unless it's hydrophonic or a water plant), will drown and, you guessed it, die... I have this bright, new plant to take care of. Sometimes I feel clueless as a child on how to handle it. Each relationship is unique and we can't say that "this worked before, it will also work now" and definitely NOT "this worked for them, it should work for us as well". People should realize that having been in several relationships does not guarantee that you can handle all kinds. Each of us reacts and decides differently. So, my advice to those people with the habit of offering unsolicited advice is to keep it. I have a feeling you will need that more than me. Currently feeling: contemplativeHow's my acting?

Cafe Mezzanine (Volunteer Firemen's Coffeeshop) ***** POSTED AT 09:49 PM in Foodies Foodie Rating: Five Stars!!! ----- Ever since Ivan Man Dy of oldmanilawalks.com introduced this foodie treasure, I'd always make it a point to stop by this place for lunch whenever I happen to be around Old Manila -- this, and Dong Bei (I will post an entry on this once my film rolls get developed). For this, I was in Hidalgo having the family film cameras cleaned/repaired, when I realized that I haven't been to Binondo in a long while. Since Binondo is just walking distance from Quiapo (albeit a loooong walk), I decided to brave the throng of people in the crowded streets of Quiapo AND Binondo, just to have my fix of good ol' authentic Chinese food. According to Ivan, Cafe Mezzanine was built by an immigrant of Fukien (China), who had two passions in life: firefighting and photography. Both of these passions can be observed once entering the restaurant, as the walls were filled with pictures of firefighters in action... and the most obvious, in the subtext of the restaurant's name. Aside from the interior, another noteworthy detail about the restaurant is the history of the food itself. (The two pictures below are found courtesy of Google Images) ![]() ![]() Café Mezzanine is Located along Ongpin Street (near Binondo Church), Binondo Manila. |

Sango! *** 1/2 POSTED AT 09:09 PM in Foodies Foodie Rating: Three-and-a-half stars. ----- My first taste of Sango! was in their Makati branch (near Little Tokyo). Although I enjoyed the food, I have to admit that the location was a bit far to my liking. So you can only imagine how happy I was when I discovered that a new branch of Sango! sprouted up in my home turn, down south. ![]() Sango! The Burger Master is located at G/F South Supermarket, Alabang-Zapote Road, Muntinlupa City. |

tale of the piso and vendo POSTED AT 12:07 PM I went to get a cup of coffee from the cafeteria's vending machine yesterday and I got annoyed why the machine kept spitting out my 2 shiny one-peso coins. Luckily I had some old, grayish one-peso coins as well. The machine accepted the old coins. So what was the reason why the vending machine doesnt accept the shiny, new coins? I figured that there was something different about the new ones. The ever-turning wheels in my head had a small theory: the vending machine coin-thingy detects the value of the coins entered based on it's weight. I went back to the office and weighed the 2 one-peso coins... then I saw the answer... Something new I learned yesterday: one-peso coins minted back in 1999 weigh about 6.02g, one-peso coins minted in 2009 (this year) only weighs 5.40g. That's a difference of 0.6g per coin. So it's not only the value that deppreciated, it's also the physical attributes of the coin itself! So... since I'm always getting coffee or chocolate milk from that machine, I would have to be picky with the coins I have on my purse. Those people have to re-calibrate the weight-detector of that machine though... but then again 0.6g is a big difference... people might start putting lower value coins with the same weight. Hahahaha... Currently feeling: amused |

Le Bistro **** POSTED AT 11:20 PM in Foodies Foodie Rating: Four Stars. ----- Le Bistro describes itself as a restaurant that offers "special sustainable food menu which ensures that food products support earth-friendly initiatives and help sustain local farmers." It's nice to know that there are those in the foodie industry who are thoughtful enough to support locally grown produce. ![]() Pardon the goofball in the picture. ![]() |

Albergus Catering ***** POSTED AT 03:44 PM in Foodies Foodie Rating: Five Stars!!! (w00t) ----- Second in line on the list of catering services for our food-tasting activity is Albergus Catering. I haven't heard of this catering service before, so I had no expectations prior to the activity. I just hoped that their showcase of food is better than what we had with the first caterer. ![]() Albergus Catering is located at 6 Capitol Hills Drive, Old Balara, Diliman, Quezon City 1119 As it turns out, *better* is too weak of a word to describe our experience. To date, Albergus Catering is the one to beat, as far as food-tasting catering services goes. |
